WASHINGTON—The Labor Division beneath the Trump administration closed inquiries into Microsoft Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. after the businesses responded to questions on their plans to rent extra Black staff, in response to an company spokesman.
The businesses in September acquired letters from the Workplace of Federal Contract Compliance Packages, a division of the Labor Division, asking them to show that their variety hiring plans complied with antidiscrimination legal guidelines.
“Microsoft and Wells Fargo responded to the inquiries with in-depth descriptions, supplies, and information. OFCCP was happy with the response, and the inquiries are closed,” a Labor Division spokesman stated.
The company closed the inquiries into Wells Fargo and Microsoft in October and December, respectively, in response to the spokesman.
The OFCCP has authority to launch enforcement actions towards federal contractors alleged to be in violation of antidiscrimination legal guidelines. Earlier in 2020, in issues of hiring separate from the September letters, Wells Fargo and Microsoft every agreed to multimillion-dollar settlements with the workplace. Neither firm admitted wrongdoing within the agreements.
